Relaxing at home enjoying a great meal and the company of close family can be great. Sometimes, though, just sitting around the house can get a little boring…especially for your kids. If you need some ideas on things to do with the family besides just sitting around eating all day, here you go.
Volunteer
There are lots of places to volunteer on Thanksgiving. Many places offer free Thanksgiving dinners for people in need and they are always looking for help. Whether you want to go early and help prepare or head over later to help serve, you are sure to find an organization that needs your help.
Volunteering is a great way to do something together as a family that will have a positive impact on everyone involved.
See A Movie
Sure, sitting in a dark room staring at the screen may not be the most social family activity, but just getting out of the house on Thanksgiving can be a good change of pace. It will definitely keep the kids entertained, and may give you the perfect excuse you need to just sit back and relax for a couple of hours.
See A Game
Lots of us watch a football game or two on Thanksgiving, but if you want to take it up a notch find a local sporting event to attend. Some high schools will have a Thanksgiving Day game, and many minor league basketball and hockey teams do as well. Check your local schedule to see if there’s an event happening near you.  If so, it could be a really fun way to spend Thanksgiving night doing something really fun with all the sports fans in your family.
Hit The Lanes
Like movie theaters, many bowling alleys are open on Thanksgiving as well. Since we don’t know too many people who will say no to a few rounds of bowling, this could be the perfect way to get the whole family together for a fun holiday activity.
