Declutter Your Home This Spring

Spring has arrived, which means it’s time for spring cleaning. Maybe your family has a cleaning routine that you follow each year, or maybe you play it by ear. Whatever the case, it’s the perfect time of year to declutter your home. If you’re not sure where to start, we’ve got some ideas.

We put together a list of nine different areas or things in your home that you can purge this year. Pick one item to tackle each day, and before you know it you’ll have decluttered a large portion your home!

  1. Playroom
This is an easy place to start! Go through the toy box and donate any toys stuffed animals that aren’t getting any love. Involve your kids by asking each child to choose one toy to donate.
  2. Mugs
We can’t be the only ones with a constantly growing mug collection. Now is the perfect time to get rid of some.
  3. Closet
With kids, there’s bound to be some clothes in your house that have become outgrown. And take a look at your own closet while you’re at it; can you find a few items to part with?
  4. Books
We love a large book collection, but maybe it’s time to donate the ones that never get read. You could even encourage your kids to gift a book or two to a friend.
  5. Fridge
When’s the last time your fridge got the deep cleaning it needs? Throw out the almost-empty salad dressings and sauces that no one has used in far too long.
  6. Knick Knacks
Do you or your kids have any knick knacks you can part with? It’s amazing how much space little items can take up.
  7. Spice Cabinet
After you clean out the fridge, consider taking on the space cabinet. Toss out any empty or expired containers, and pitch the stale chocolate chips you forgot to use!
  8. Junk Drawer
We may not be proud of it, but everyone has at least one junk drawer. This is a daunting task, but you can do it! Empty the drawer and find a place for each item, or throw out what is truly junk.
  9. Email Inbox
We’re serious! A cluttered inbox can be just as overwhelming as a cluttered home. Take some time to unsubscribe from all those email lists you’re part of.

Happy cleaning!
