March 6 is National Oreo Day, and what better way to celebrate the occasion than with delicious Oreo recipes? But first, a few fun Oreo facts:
- 50% of consumers twist and pull the two cookies apart before eating them.
- It takes about two hours to make and bake one Oreo cookie.
- 40 billion Oreo cookies are produced each year from factories in 18 countries.
- The number of Oreo cookies made in one year could circle the Earth five times.
Now, on to the recipes!
Oreo Cookie Balls
This classic is a hit with kids and adults alike. Perfect for parties or just for a special dessert at home, here’s how to make Oreo cookie balls.
You will need:
- 1 pkg. softened brick cream cheese
- 36 finely crushed Oreo cookies
- 4 packages white baking chocolate, melted
Instructions:
- Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs.
- Shape into 48 balls.
- Freeze for 10 minutes.
- Dip each ball in melted chocolate, then place in a single layer in waxed paper-lined pan.
- Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
- Enjoy!
Black & White Oreo Brownie Cheesecake Bars
Set aside about four hours from start to finish for these delectable cheesecake bars. But don’t worry: the time you devote to this dessert will be well worth it!
You will need:
- 1 pkg. fudge brownie mix
- 2 pkg. softened brick cream cheese
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 36 Oreos, divided
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 325F.
- Place foil on 13×9-inch pan and then coat with cooking spray.
- Make brownie batter per directions on box, then pour into pan.
- Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Center will be almost set; do not bake to completion.
- Beat cream cheese and sugar with mixer in large bowl; add sour cream and mix well.
- Add eggs and beat on low speed until blended.
- Cut five cookies in half and chop up seven of the remaining cookies.
- Arrange remaining whole cookies over partially-baked brownie, making four rows of six cookies each.
- Place halved cookies in the empty spaces.
- Spread cream cheese mixture over the brownies and top with chopped cookies.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes and cool completely.
- Refrigerate for about three hours.
- Cut into bars and serve.
Oreo Milkshake
These yummy Oreo milkshakes make the perfect after-school treat and only take 10 minutes to make.
You will need:
- 6 Oreos, divided
- 1 tbsp chocolate syrup
- 1-1/4 cups milk
- 2-1/2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
- 1/4 cup whipped cream
Instructions:
- Cut one cookie into quarters and set aside for garnish.
- Chop four of the remaining cookies and set aside.
- Crush the remaining cookie into crumbs, then pour into a shallow dish.
- Brush rims of 4, 8 oz. glasses with chocolate syrup.
- Dip the tops of the glasses into the cookie crumbs, coating evenly.
- Blend milk and ice cream in blender.
- Add chopped cookies, then pulse until blended.
- Pour into glasses, and top with whipped cream and reserved cookie pieces.
Oreo S’Mores Dip
If you love roasting marshmallows over a campfire, you will love this fun at-home S’mores Dip recipe you can do from the warmth of your kitchen.
You will need:
- 1 pkg. brick cream cheese, softened
- 1 pkg. white baking chocolate, melted
- 12 chopped Oreos
- 4 cups regular sized marshmallows
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Mix chocolate and cream cheese in bowl until blended, then stir in chopped cookies.
- Spread cream cheese mixture into nine-inch pie plate, then top with marshmallows.
- Bake 15 minutes or until heated through and top is lightly browned.
- Remove from oven, then heat the broiler.
- Place the dip four inches from heat.
- Broil one to two minutes or until marshmallows look golden brown.
- Cool slightly and serve.
Oreo Raspberry & Creme Squares
For this sweet raspberry and creme square recipe, you will need:
- 3 cups softened raspberry sherbet
- 18 Oreo Fudge Cremes, divided
- 12 fresh raspberries
- 3 cups softened vanilla ice cream
- 3/4 cup thawed, frozen whipped topping
Instructions:
- Spray square eight-inch pan with cooking spray, then line with plastic wrap.
- Spread the sherbet onto the bottom of the pan.
- Freeze for 30 minutes.
- Chop 12 cookies coarsely, pressing gently into the top of the dessert.
- Cover it all with ice cream.
- Freeze for three hours or until firm.
- Unmold dessert onto a plate and remove the plastic wrap.
- Cut the rest of the cookies in half to use as garnish with the whipped topping and fresh raspberries.
