Quilt Craft for Kids

Do you have a kid who loves making things? Crafts are a great way to spark kids’ creativity and teach them to follow steps to make the desired end goal. Oftentimes, crafts are made of paper or other materials that are easily damaged, broken, or lost. If you’re looking for a new craft idea that your child will love and be proud of for years to come, we have an idea for you: no-sew fleece blankets!

No-sew fleece blankets, also called tie blankets, are such a fun craft (and keepsake) for kids. Not only will they get to strengthen their knot tying skills, but they’ll also walk away with their very own blanket to use for movie nights, sleepovers, or reading on the couch. It’s also a great activity that teaches kids to be proud of their work. In addition to this being a great craft to teach kids knot tying and following instructions, this is also a great gift that kids can make for their friends and family.

For this sew-free quilt, you’ll need 1.5 yards of fleece fabric, or more if you want a larger blanket. Be sure to include your kids in this step; letting them pick out their own fabric will just make them love their masterpiece even more. In addition to the material, you’ll need scissors, a cutting mat, a ruler, a pen or pencil, and a rotary cutter. Get the full instructions here.

This would be a great birthday party activity for your child and a handful of his or her closest friends. Talk about a party favor to remember!
