In most parts of the country, December is not the ideal time to go to the zoo. In San Antonio, however, it is the perfect time. You don’t have to deal with the summer heat, and there are generally fewer people there meaning everything from parking to seeing the animals is all a bit easier.
If your kids like to see Santa, then that’s another reason to go to the zoo. The San Antonio zoo will have Santa At The Zoo on select dates throughout December. Seeing santa is free and you an your kids will also get some complimentary cocoa and cookies to enjoy as you visit the animals.
If you haven’t been to the zoo in a while, now is a great time to go see some of the new renovations including the beautiful new carousel and the new Beastro restaurant, which has a great chop salad by the way!
Also, keep in mind that the San Antonio Zoo is open everyday. If you need something to do late in the day on Christmas, heading to the zoo is a fun way to get out of the house and spend some time with the whole family.
