Family bucket lists are a fun way to explore your hometown and make new memories together. Summer is right around the corner, making it the perfect excuse to create a summer bucket list. If you live in San Antonio, we’ve put together a few ideas to help you get started on your list!

Enjoy the Riverwalk

Spend an afternoon or evening enjoying the beautiful riverwalk right in our backyard!

Visit San Antonio Playgrounds

There are quite a few playgrounds in San Antonio. Your bucket list could include trying all of them and choosing your favorite, or simply going to one as a whole family one evening. With the long summer days, you could even have a post-dinner playground time! Get all that extra energy out before bedtime.

Watch Movies Outside

Every summer, there are several outside movie nights throughout San Antonio. Check out the 2023 outdoor movie dates, and plan to go to at least one with your family.

Scream for Ice Cream

OK, you don’t really have to scream for it, but try a new ice cream place! San Antonio is full of them. Alternatively, you could have a build your own ice cream sundae night at home, complete with everyone’s favorite toppings.

Go Bowling

Bowling is one of our favorite family activities! Bandera Bowl participates in the Kids Bowl Free program, which means exactly what it sounds like: kids bowl free! More specifically, kids can get two free games of bowling every day of summer. Take your kids for a family night of bowling, even if the parents just watch!

Splash Around

Escape the Texas heat by visiting one of San Antonio’s splash pads! If you have a little one who can’t swim yet, this is the perfect water activity for them. And if you have older kids who do swim, splash pads are still tons of fun!.

More Ideas:

  • Pick flowers
  • Make breakfast for dinner
  • Go stargazing
  • Go cloud watching
  • Make homemade lemonade

There’s still a few more weeks until summer is here, so you have some time to nail down your list. Make it a family affair and ask your little ones what special things they’d like to do this summer, then have a blast exploring your town and making sweet memories together. And remember, the things you do don’t have to be fancy or expensive; it could be as simple as picking wildflowers or making dinner together.

Whatever you end up choosing, we’d love to know what’s on your family’s summer bucket list!
