Flag Day Crafts

Flag Day falls on June 14th every year. While it is a lesser celebrated holiday, it is one that has been recognized for a long time! If you don’t know about Flag Day and why we celebrate it, check out these Flag Day Facts for Kids. Once you learn a little bit about this holiday, choose a craft or two from the list below and have fun celebrating the day together!

Stars & Stripes Sensory Bin

This red, white, and blue sensory bin contains colored pasta and star buttons, but you can use any items you find or already have at home! That’s the great thing about sensory bins—there’s no right or wrong way to do them.

Popsicle Stick American Flag Magnet

You’ll need popsicle sticks, paint, cardboard, glue, paintbrushes, and a magnet for this fun craft. Once you gather your supplies, you’ll use them to create a flag magnet. If you don’t have magnets, you can simply glue the sticks to your cardboard and skip the last step.

American Flag Playdough Mat

Does your child love playdough? This is the perfect Flag Day craft for them! All you need is red playdough, white playdough, and the free printable playdough mat. The mat shows a picture of the flag, and your child can do their best to make their own playdough replica.

Q-Tip Flag Painting Printable

What little one doesn’t love paint? If you’re up for a potentially messier craft for Flag Day, try this q-tip flag. Your child will use q-tips as paintbrushes, filling in each circle to create a flag! For a less messy alternative, use markers instead of paint and q-tips.

We hope you have fun celebrating Flag Day with your family. We like to take every opportunity to make regular days celebratory, and holidays are the perfect time to do just that. If you want to go all out for Flag Day, choose a patriotic dessert to enjoy together!
