Who says you have to spend a fortune at the store buying brand new craft supplies? A quick look around the house will give you all the supplies you need. Start saving up those paper towel and toilet paper rolls so you can make these fun cardboard tube Christmas crafts with the kids over break. From penguin families to snow men and women, these crafts will keep your family busy all season long.
Penguin Family
All you need for this craft is a cardboard tube and some paint. Cut the tube into three pieces, then paint each one black. Let dry. Once dry, you can paint, draw or place stickers on them to make a white heart-shaped face, and then the eyes, beak and feet. Your penguin family can be used for decorations, napkin rings, story props, or candy holders that you can fill with sweets and give as gifts. Make one family or a bunch!
Christmas Presents
Making a trio of Christmas gifts is very easy. Cut the cardboard tube into three pieces. Paint each one a different color and let dry. Once dry, paint or draw on the ribbons. Place stickers to decorate them further or leave as is. You can also tie string, ribbon or even fabric scraps as bows. Use them as a festive decoration, story prop, napkin ring or fill with sweets.
Santa Claus
Cut the top half of one tube into a triangle for Santa’s hat. Paint the tops and bottoms red and allow to dry. Once dry, draw, paint or stick on Santa’s beard, eyes, and hat trim.
Reindeer
Cut a cardboard tube cut into four-inch rings. Paint a red nose and black eyes, then allow to dry. Next, glue or tape two sticks to the inside of the tube for the antlers.
